LG Life Sciences signed an agreement with Anteis S.A. of Switzerland for exclusive marketing rights of the drug Esthelis in South Korea. Esthelis is a dermal filler type of product, used in dermoplasty applications such as wrinkle removal, lip augmentation and facial outline plastic surgery. Its active ingredient, hyaluronic acid, is a substance found naturally in the human body.
After completing regulatory approval procedures, LG will launch Esthelis in the domestic market in the latter half of 2008. The drug is currently commercially available in about 60 countries in the EU, Asia, South America, Australia and the Middle East.
